How to motorize the Lego Technic Race Truck, set 8041

I assembled Race Truck. Then I wanted to add motors to it, which are called Power Functions.

Other people have instructions on the Internet how to motorize the race truck, but they use extra parts. I wanted to use only the parts that come with the set. Also, I wanted to make it simple, because I am only 9 years old.

Here is what I did.
Step 1. Take the stuff from the rear end of the truck. It should look like this pic, Fig.1

Fig. 1

Step 2. Collect all the parts you need, see Fig.2. They all are in the set, except for the 2 motors and battery pack, and receiver and controller. You have to buy them separately.

Step 3. Assemble the frame for the XL motor that will drive the back wheels. It should look like Fi. 3 and 4

Step 4. Attach the axle 9 and axle 4 and the XL motor, also the black gear. Like in Fig.5.

Step 5. Take off the yellow gear and axes connected to it in the back of the cab. Should look like Fig. 6

Step 6. Now make a frame for attaching the M motor that will turn the front wheel. Use two pieces (part number 4173668) and small blue pegs like in Fig. 7. Then attach to them 7-holes beam like in Fig. 8.

Step. 7. Add yellow gear, axle connector, axle 3 and axle 4 and 2 black pegs, like in Fig. 9.

Step 8. Attach M motor to axle and two pegs.

Step 9. Make the frame to attach the battery pack. Take two 5-hole beams and attach on the top of differential like in Fig. 11. Snap the battery pack on the pegs like in Fig. 12.

Step 10. Put receiver on the top of the engine and connect the wires. The final truck should look like Fig. 13.

And now you drive it -- click here for a movie.
